What began as a small online venture to make second-hand fashion more accessible has grown into a vibrant storefront in the heart of Injune. Today, The Outback Op Shop Australia is a unique blend of an op shop, gift store, and garden centre—offering both new and pre-loved items that reflect the values and lifestyle of outback Australia.
Our Story
Founder Tori Johnson, a lifelong op-shop lover, created The Outback Op Shop Australia after experiencing firsthand how difficult it can be to access affordable clothing in rural areas. Living hours from the nearest second-hand store, she started an online shop so others wouldn’t face the same challenge. Her vision was simple: make quality, affordable fashion accessible while promoting sustainability and community connection.
In 2025, when the Injune Newsagency and Garden Centre was set to close following the owners’ retirement, Tori saw an opportunity to preserve vital local services. She purchased the business to ensure the community would continue to have access to essentials such as stationery, cards, gifts, and garden supplies. Rather than let these necessities disappear, she merged the two ventures—bringing together the heart of the op shop with the practicality of the newsagency and garden centre.
The result is a one-of-a-kind store that unites pre-loved fashion, new retail items, gifts, plants, and garden essentials—all under one roof and delivered with genuine country warmth and care.
